HEAD REferree

Responsible for enforcing the rules of the meet and ensuring fair competition. The Referee holds a pre-meet meeting 30 minutes before start time to review Stroke/Turn officials' positioning, jurisdiction, relay take-off duties, and stroke briefing.

STARTER

Announces the age and stroke of each event and says, "SWIMMERS TAKE YOUR MARK" to ensure all swimmers are motionless before giving an electronic sound or a blast of a whistle. Also responsible for judging false starts, which should be restarted.

STROKES & TURNS JUDGES (2)

Observe strokes, turns, and finishes to see that swimmers comply with requirements for that stroke.

ASSISTANT COMPUTER RECORDER

Works with Technology Coordinator to sort timer sheets, DQ slips, ribbon labels and result sheets.  Also assists with inputting times from the swimmers’ cards.

CLERK OF COURSE

Controls the flow of the meet by ensuring swimmers are ready for their events.  Supervises the waiting area for each age group during meets, distributes event cards for relays, keeps track of swimmers between events and gets swimmers to the ready bench on time with caps and goggles.  For most age groups there are parent assistants to work with as well.

COLORADO TIMING SYSTEM (CTS) OFFICIAL

Sets up and operates the Colorado Timing System during the meet, which records the times of all the swimmers.

TIMING JUDGE

Compares the CTS results with the stop watch times and determines which will be the “official” time.
